TRANSFORMING HARYANA - PROGRESSING HARYANA
The yearlong Swarna Jayanti celebrations of the formation of Haryana as a separate State are currently underway.During the “Swarna Jayanti” year the Government has planned launch of numerous projects and schemes of public welfare as also many innovative activities to reach out to citizens to usher in a new era of sustainable development and of faster and regionally balanced socio economic growth. The year 2017 is also being observed as the “GaribKalyanVarsh” wherein agriculture is one of the nine identified areas of development for focused attention.
Haryana emerged as a separate State in the federal galaxy of the Indian Republic on November 1, 1966. With just 1.37% of the total geographical area and less than 2% of India’s population, Haryana has carved a place of distinction for itself during the past three decades. Whether it is agriculture or industry, canal irrigation or rural electrification, Haryana has marched towards modernity with leaps and bounds. Haryana is among the most prosperous states in India, having the highest per-capita income in the country.
Faridabad, the largest city in Haryana is the industrial heart of Haryana. Faridabad is a home to about 15000 small, medium and large industries like Whirlpool, Goodyear, L&T, Castrol, Yamaha Motors, Escorts, Eicher, JCB India Limited etc. provided direct and indirect employment to nearly half a million people. The city ranks as the 9th largest industrial estate in Asia with a combined turnover estimated to be about Rs. 2000 billion.Faridabad is home to the acclaimed annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela that showcases the richness and diversity of the handicrafts, handlooms and cultural fabric of India.
Riding on the resounding success of Agri Leadership Summit, 2015, Haryana is organising the 2nd edition of Agri Leadership Summit to provide avenues for recognition, facilitation and incubation of farmer leaders. The Agri Leadership Summit, 2017 will have two distinct themes- promoting Haryana as a destination for Peri Urban Agriculture/Horticulture/Allied activities and focus on Agri Business & Marketing Leadership. Besides, there will be focus on issues such as doubling of farmer’s income, climate smart agriculture, micro irrigation/soil health, organic farming, risk management, A2 milk production/dairying, aquaculture, agro product marketing, agro industries etc.
